You're right, Chris, sometimes parents are so much concentrated on cleanness and children's health keeping the house sterile that they even harm. Once I published a story about it. If someone's interested here's the link: http://geniusbeauty.com/news/unreasonable-cleanliness-cause-diseases/

Anyway, it's not the reason to skip cleaning ;) (this was for my husband)

I have been reading lately that current parents' fanaticism with cleanliness has severly reduced their childrens' ability to properly develop an immune system. When I was a kid we did not have shots for immunity against measles, mumps, whooping cough, scarlet fever etc. As kids we all played outside, ate dirt and worms (!) had domestic and wild pets, which we all handled without washing our hands, or anything else. We all got the abovementioned diseases (deliberately) and no-one died or had long term effects. None of my friends from back then get sick with anything, including allergies. I think our (old fart) immune systems are very strong unlike today's kids......

I agree to ventilate the building diary, but don't create an obsession about dust.

I suffer for hay fever since I'm teenager (I'm 37 now), and I've tried almost everything for allergy: to cover the bed with antimites, antimite's spray, air cleaning machine, desensitivity vaccines, diets, and now I'm trying the NAET method.

A cleaning vacuum is good but not enough, because mites are in bed, and you should change the mattress every week, because cleaning sheets every day is not enough. You can not live in a "white room", destroying all dust and cleaning every day, is impossible.

You have to fight against the allergy with alternative therapies. Some people has told that they cured their allergy with a special diet. Gluten of wheat and caseine in milk can produce asthma, for example. See the article: http://www.tips4mums.com/news/es_ES/2008/08/11/0024

Tina, please, no fanatism, but, anyway, it's a good habit to rid your house of mold and dust regularly.
