“When you tell me that you love me” is not a new song, but who said only new ones are good? It was initially released by Diana Ross in 1991, but many artists sang the song too. One of them is Julio Iglesias. And I find the way he sings it in a duet with Dolly Parton very beautiful. This is one of the songs I can listen to again and again and always sing along to. Sorry, several first seconds of the music video were lost. Unfortunately, I can share only this video. You can still enjoy it.
This is one of the “songs around the world” from the documentary “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music”. As you see from the video, different musicians from around the world contributed to this song by singing their parts. “Stand by Me” and other songs will be released early next year. Just watch and enjoy. Great idea, great song, great video! Incredible, I think.
Cesária Évora is a Cape Verdean singer who has become popular around the world. She always performs without shoes and this is why she got the nickname “barefooted diva”. Her music is very light, so pleasant to listen to. I wish I could understand what Cesária sings about. But the lyrics can be perceived as music, too, this is because the language itself is so beautiful. Enjoy this light song named “Pic Nic Na Salamansa” – it creates a great atmosphere of joy, carefreeness, eternal holiday.
I stumbled on this music video on TV and fell in love with the song so to say “at first note”. “Tu il Mio Miracolo” means “you are my miracle”. Vittorio Grigolo has such a tender voice, I can’t think of any other tenor to sing this song as beautifully. Maybe, only Andrea Bocelli. The song is so passionate. Well, I don’t want to say anything else now, I better click “play”.
Notre Dame de Paris is my favorite musical. I saw the show only once (and was greatly impressed), but I listened to the record lots of times. It is a French-Canadian musical and it has already been played in many countries. The plot resembles the initial “Notre Dame de Paris” by Victor Hugo a lot. It’s a great musical and it consists of so many beautiful songs, that it was really difficult for me to choose the parts I like most, as the whole musical is perfect. Finally, I decided to share 6 songs that I just love. You can always find the rest in related songs – they shared the whole musical on YouTube. Enjoy!
Phœbus and Fleur-de-Lys
Yes, I wrote it correctly, because the band is named “Helloween”, not “Halloween“. And they chose this very name not because they are Germans and can’t speak English – they simply wanted the name to sound as sinister as possible. The song’s called “Windmill”, it was released in 1993. I remember listening to Helloween’s albums as a kid, I liked their “power metal” music, but now the only motive I remember well is “Wingmill”. And this is probably their best song. Helloween still exists, last year they released another album. But I don’t follow their creative work, I just sometimes enjoy the song “Windmill”.
Every couple has a song or songs which they call “our song”. It is music that was playing when something particular was happening in their life, like their first dance or date. For us, my husband and me, such “our song” is “Dreams” by Richard Sanderson. Every time I listen to this song I feel something special, I come back to the day when I realized I love him. I’m sure, you all know this song. It is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
German is my favorite language. It sounds so beautiful. I remember studying it by listening to German songs, noting new words and phrases and leaning the lyrics by heart (including other methods of learning a foreign language, of course). Laith Al-Deen’s album was one of the “materials” that helped me in mastering the language. Well, it was anyway always fun for me. I really love the language. And some songs of Laith Al-Deen, too. Here’s one of the songs I like – “Labyrinth”.
I love music and it doesn’t matter for me what language the song is in. Here’s a very beautiful Russian song. The artist is Stas Piekha, a famous Russian singer, the grandson of the popular Russian actress and singer Edita Piekha. The song’s called “O Tebe” (“About You”). It is romantic and very touching.
Monday is supposed to be the hardest day of the week for many, so after this day everyone is especially stressed and needs something that could help relax. For me music has always been such a stress reliever. In particular, “Si No Te Hubiera Conocido”, the Spanish ballad performed by Christina Aguilera and Luis Fonsi “works” great. This is the song from the first Christina’s Spanish-language album “Mi Reflejo”. This song was composed by Rudy Perez, a genius person who produced and composed for Julio Iglesias, Michael Bolton, Marc Anthony and other stars. Luis Fonsi is singer, composer and soap opera actor from Puerto Rico. Christina Aguilera is well-known – she has a great soprano, although she sometimes screams instead of singing – well, let’s think, it’s just because of really strong emotions – she takes to heart everything she sings about. Together they are a perfect duet. Enjoy the song.
“When You Say Nothing at All” - do you remember this song? It was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz and sung by three artists who took it to the top of three different charts: Keith Whitley, Alison Krauss and Ronan Keating. The song is simply great! I love it! As for me, I like the version of Ronan Keating most (maybe, because I heard his version first). He is an Irish singer, the one of the Boyzone. This beautiful song was his first solo single – it was recorded as the soundtrack of the romantic comedy Notting Hill. I can listen to “When You Say Nothing at All” again and again - and always with a great pleasure.
Billy Joel – you all know this singer and songwriter very well. He has so many beautiful songs. And one of my most favorite Joel’s songs is “Just the Way You Are”. It’s quite old (1977), but full of romantic. It expresses everything a loving person would like to tell the beloved one. This song was actually a birthday gift for Billy Joel’s first wife. No matter the end of the story (their divorce), that was a great gift idea, don’t you think so? Enjoy the romantic.
Here’s a great stress reliever – a very beautiful Italian song by Eros Ramazzotti and Andrea Bocelli. It’s calles “Musica e”. Both singers are very well known in non-English speaking European countries. So, for some of you they will be new. I adore this song. It is so unusual. When I heard it for the first time some years ago, I was amazed by the beautiful voices, music, variations and the entire composition. The song is truly stunning. You will like it, too.
I’d like to add something very nice to the Beautiful Music category today – “Yes, Yes, I Love You” by Adriano Celentano, an Italian celebrity. He is now 70 years old, but he used to be a sex symbol in Italy. He is singer, songwriter, actor and even film director, he also acted as comedian and TV host. He sold millions of his records during his life and he still remains very popular in Italy. He is also well-known in other countries. Maybe you’ve already heard this song, but it’s so romantic, one can enjoy it again and again.
Here’s a beautiful ballad which I always listen to with a great pleasure – Kissing a Fool by George Michael. I’ve already said, that George Michael is one of my favorite singers. His voice is just heavenly. Kissing a Fool is not a recent song, it was released in 1988, but I’m sure, you will enjoy this song, like I do. This is not the official video, but it contains good quality sound and is great for those who want to learn the text fast.
Here’s one of my favorite songs (it seems to me, I’ve got thousand favorite songs) – “Tell him” by Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand. It’s not a hot hit that everybody knows and hears ten times a day on the radio. This song was released in 1997. “Tell him” was a great hit outside the U.S. It didn’t become very popular here, because there was not enough support to get the song to the top of the charts at that time. Anyway, this song is so beautiful. Both Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand have great voices – although with different singing styles, they sound perfect together.
I’d like to share with you a wonderful song that I like very much – “You” by Ten Sharp. It’s a hit of early 90s, which was very popular in some European countries including the UK, France and Sweden. The song is so beautiful, I think, text author Ton Groen was really in love when writing it. And the music composed by Niels Hermes is perfect. Ten Sharp is a Dutch band, their latest album “Stay” was released in 2003. Unfortunately, after that time there were no new songs of the band (at least I haven’t heard of them). I can only hope, that the 2003 album wasn’t the last one. I find Marcel Kapteijn (vocals) and Niels Hermes (keyboards), the two members of the band, very talented and I really enjoy other songs of Ten Sharp as well. But “You” is one of the most beautiful Ten Sharp songs. Here’s the music video of it. Hope, you will enjoy it too.
Music has always played an important role in m life. Beautiful music acts as an antidepressant, it elevates one, makes one forget the problems occurring in every day life. Today let me share with you a very beautiful song in the Beautiful Music category – Desafinado sung by George Michael and Astrud Gilberto. I adore this song, I can listen to it again and again and I love the voice of George Michael – he is one of my favorite singers. For me this is an ideal duet of two extremely talented singers. The rich, strong voice of Astrud Gilberto so to say shades the velvety, soft voice of George Michael. They sing perfectly together. It’s a pity, there’s actually no music video for this wonderful song, but it’s really not needed. The song itself is so beautiful – I’m sure, you will enjoy it. Just listen to this fantastic melody.
This day was a special day – it the final of Eurovision 2008. The stage was actually a big screen, which made it possible to show any video environment, the songs were beautiful, the dances were dynamic. You surely want to know, who was the winner. It was Dima Bilan from Russia! Congratulation to this country! This time Dima also got a Eurovision prize, for the first time. The second place went to Ani Lorak from Ukraine, the third one – to Kalomira from Greece. Continue reading »

Today I’d like to share a piece of beautiful music with you – “club Thing” – a very beautiful song by Yoav. I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it for the first time. These were wonderful sounds. Yoav is an extremely talented guy. He creates wonders with his guitar. Those magic sounds are just magnificent! Check them out yourself, if you haven’t heard the song before. If you did, I’m sure, you won’t neglect the opportunity to listen to it again. As for me, I can’t stop. Here it is.
