I think that genius #1 had .50 cents and genius #2 had $9.50. The cost of the toy is 10.50. I think I’m right!

Assume the toy price is X :

G1 : X – $10
G2 : X – $1

They joined the fund : G1+G2=2X – $11 $11

So the price must be more than $11.
G1 has less than $1 and G2 less than $10.
Am I right? Did I win anything?

Genius 1 had 9
Genius 2 had 0

But why was genius 2 trying to buy something when he/she knew they no money?
