Recipe of the Light Bulgarian Salad

Bulgarian CheeseI would like to share with you a recipe of a very simple salad, which is extremely tasty, healthy and easy to prepare. I ate it first in Bulgaria some years ago and now prepare it quite often. It contains only fresh vegetables and a little bit of sheep cheese. You need no salt for it, because sheep cheese is salted. You can prepare this salad as an appetizer, as a side dish or eat it alone as a light dinner in the evening. If you are on a diet and want to lose weight, you may eat this light salad.

You will need the following ingredients for the preparation of this salad (for two):

  • 2 average tomatoes
  • 1 sweet pepper
  • 1 cucumber
  • some lettuce leaves
  • 50 gr. of Bulgarian sheep cheese (or feta)
  • 1 spoon of olive oil

Cut tomatoes, pepper, cucumber and lettuce leaves into pieces. Mix them in a bowl. Grate sheep cheese over the cut vegetables. Mix the salad properly. Add olive oil, mix everything again, and the salad is ready. If you like, add black pepper to the salad. You can pleasantly astonish your sweetheart or guests with the taste of this light salad.
