Weight loss programs which actively rely on the Internet support online are better than thoroughly off-line programs.
That is the conclusion drawn by the researchers from the University of Tsukuba (Japan) after the data analysis based on 23 studies comparing the efficiency of conventional offline and online programs.
The scientists have not found any simple explanation for this fact. It can be assumed that the benefits are as follows. Firstly, a virtual weight loss club can uniquely combine the anonymity and direct personal contact with the instructor and other like-minded people. This eliminates the confusion that obese people often experience during a personal communication. Secondly, a virtual club is always open and provides continuous support that one can get 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
