Hi,

Since your husband has a "heart condition" (with likely blood pressure problems) he should be careful about eating such a high quantity of cottage cheese. His heart condition likely requires him to be on diuretics (e.g. Hydrochlorothiazide) which causes your body to lose salt (Sodium) in order to keep his blood pressure in check. Cottage cheese contains A LOT of salt, which is DIRECTLY working against the drugs he is likely taking.

I know every doctor likely gives you this advice, but, a well balanced and low sodium diet is likely the best thing.

As for why he is craving the cottage cheese, his body may be craving the sodium because of the medication he is taking and his body's desire to increase his blood pressure. (Despite the fact that this is NOT good for his heart condition)

My husband had his gall bladder removed and has a heart condition. Lately, he craves cottage cheese and on some days eats 3lbs a day. His plates are low and he just had a bone marrow test which indicated that his B12 was low. We will find out his B12 level this week. Is there some reason he is eating so much cottage cheese?

I recommend Cottage to my muscle wanting clients every night before bed and one more time throughout the day.

Even if they don't like it, I kind of force it on them. If you buy casein protein powder in the stores it is way too expensive too.
