Audrey Hepburn Didn't Find Herself Beautiful

The son of the legendary “dancing fairy” and actress Audrey Hepburn, Luca Dotti, published a book of memoirs about his mother called “Audrey in Rome”. It includes more than 200 photos of the famous actress, some of which have never been published. Luca also gave an exclusive interview to the Vanity Fair magazine, in which he confessed that his mother called herself “a good mixture of defects”.

It turns out that Audrey Hepburn believed she had a huge nose and big feet. She also thought she was too slim, and her breasts were not big enough. According to the 43-year-old son, his mother often looked at herself in the mirror and said she did not understand why people considered her to be beautiful.

By the way, Dotti himself, the son of Audrey and her second husband, Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, is convinced that his mother was perfect.

Speaking about Audrey Hepburn’s exceptional sense of style and her habit of wearing scarves and big sunglasses, Dottie said that she, like every woman, must have had about 30 or 40 of them. Large sunglasses and a scarf were a good means of masking. Sometimes she even managed to go shopping without a crowd of people following her.

According to her son, Audrey, who died at the age of 63 years in 1993, always wondered why women made so much effort to look young. Dotti recalls that his mother was glad to get older, since it meant that she would finally have more time for herself and her family. She was happy to move away from the mad world of Hollywood, so crazy about youth and beauty.

Luca admitted that he remembered his mother’s fragrances. He inherited a great sense of smell from his mother. Luca often associates his mother with certain flavors: cakes, flowers… and even the smell of orange blossom that the spring air in Rome is filled with. Spring was Audrey Hepburn’s favorite time of the year.
