It’s well-known, that hair dyes contain chemicals, that can damage one’s hair. Hair dye is associated with thinning hair and destroying hair follicles. According to the study results involving about 10000 volunteers, hair dye is even more dangerous for health. Regular use of hair dye increases the risk of malignant tumors of lymph tissue. Scientists from Yale University claim, that only those, who used hair dye produced before 1980 are more exposed to cancer and regarding hair dyes produced later, the cancer risk increases only if one regularly uses dark colors of hair dye.

Whether a woman manages to give up smoking depends on her menstrual cycle, claim experts at University of Minnesota. The study conducted by the scientists involved 200 women trying to quit smoking. Half of the volunteers was in the “follicular” part of the cycle (just after menstruation ended and before ovulation), and the other half – in the “luteal” part (after ovulation and before the next menstruation started).

According to Australian dermatologists, there’re no non-surgical remedies for alopecia, or hair loss. Experts from The Cochrane Collaboration analyzed 17 trials on various baldness treatments. They ranked highly the effectiveness of phototherapy, immunosuppressant therapy, local vasodilating and hormonal medicines. The researchers claim, that neither of the listed hair loss treatment methods could restore more than the half of the lost hairs.

Some time ago I got a comment on my article “
Why People Snore and How to Stop Snoring”, where I was asked, if there was a pill, which could stop snoring. I was looking for the answer in different sources, but in vain, I couldn’t find any snoring pill. But now I can be sure and answer, there is a snoring pill. And it is currently tested in Britain. A very interesting study of peculiarities of partner selection was carried out by scientists from Durham University. The study involved 700 heterosexual men and women aged 20-30. The volunteers were asked to look at images of the opposite sex and to judge the attractiveness of these people. They were also to identify the attitude of the people in the photos toward sex, such as if they were interested in long- or short-term relationships. These data were then compared to real behavior of the people in the photos.

Most women trying to be thin and lose weight don’t eat bread. But in reality coarse meal bread and whole grain bread can reduce the risk of breast cancer in young women. This has been found due to a seven-year study of 35000 women. According to the researchers, 350 patients developed malignant breast tumor before menopause. All of them consumed food rich in proteins instead of fibers. As a result, this type of diet was one of the causes of breast cancer. Pr. Janet Cade from University of Leeds claims, that nutrition can have a dramatic impact on cancer development in young women.

Researchers from University of Aberdeen, Scotland, have conducted a study on what a woman needs to do to seduce a man. The research involved 30 men, who were asked to listen to recordings made by four women (all of them aged about 25), the phrase said by these women was “I really like you”. After this the men rated the women for attractiveness based only on their voices, without any pictures. It occurs, that the higher the tones, the more attractive the voice (for example, when the voice was slightly raised by increasing the playback speed).

Happy married couples have a lower blood pressure, claim scientists from Brigham Young University, USA. They conducted a study including 204 married people (102 couples) and 99 people who have never been married, all of them wore blood pressure monitors for 24 hours. 30% of the volunteers suffered from hypertension. It was found, that those happily married had lower systolic pressure – on average by 4 mm of mercury, – and a significantly lowered pressure at night. And this is very important, as those suffering from high blood pressure at night are more prone to cardiovascular diseases.

An international study has revealed very surprising results: height is one of the factors influencing how jealous the person is in a relationship. It has been found, that the shorter one is, the more jealous lover they are. The study was conducted by researchers from the Universities of Groningen and Valencia and involved 549 men and women from the Netherlands and Spain. They were asked to rate how jealous they felt and to list the qualities of a potential rival, which would make them feel jealous.
